I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your caring thoughts and prayers and condolences regarding the death of my mother on March 17th. It was only two weeks ago, but it seems much longer. Your condolences touched my heart, and helped me to deal with this sad and painful loss. They truly did. And I know the prayers helped a lot too. I'm doing better now. Life won't be the same with my mother gone, but it's a reality I must accept. I know that God will comfort and sustain me in my hour of need.
Thank you again for your love and caring. It meant, means a lot to me. Peace and love to all of you. And may God abundantly bless you.
Your grunge fabric is fantastic, its the best l have ever seen as so much is just plain dirty colour but yours is wonderful, can l ask you did you just use inkpads for the colour.
ReplyDeleteWere l live in the UK THERE IS NO ONE DOING THAT OTHERWISE i WOULD SET UP A CIRCLE TO TRY IT, WE DON'T EVEN HAVE A FABRIC OR ART SHOP.I HAVE BEEN ASKED TO DO A PIECE FOR A BIG SHOW THATS TRAVELING ROUND THE US FOR A YEAR AND THIS BACKGROUND WOULD BE JUST RIGHT AND I WOULD FEEL RIGHT AS IN PAST SHOWS THEY HAVE DONE DINGY DARK PIECES, ITS LOVELY WHEN YOU READ SOMETHING THAT STRAIGHT AWAY INSPIRES YOU, sorry about caps but broke two fingers and don't think i could do it again,

Val, so sorry about your mom - my mom passed away last year in May, and I still deal with it nearly every day - I started working on art for a class I was taking that summer and I used her pictures and letters in several pieces. I'm taking another class and still using the same colors and imagery and listening to music that makes me think of her, not music she ever listened to, but music I listened to while I was working on the pieces last summer. Funny how sounds and smells can take you back to a place in such a poignant way... using your artwork to help you think through her death will help, gives you a way to think deeply about your relationship, and what you want to take with you from her for the rest of your life. It is hard, and we all go through it, but it hurts so much, bless you and your family.
ReplyDeleteHere's my blog - it has some of the work on it - I haven't uploaded photos of all 9 pieces yet, not enough hours in the day!!(and it's been almost a year!!!)

Val, I've been enjoying your blog (I always remember you as the gal who taught me to "rust"...)and as I was perusing your lovely artwork, I just found out about the loss of your mom. I would just like you to know how sad I am for you.
ReplyDeleteHaving lost mine at age 89, I think the longer you have them, the harder it is to see them go. You will be in my prayers that your grief will be short-lived and I will be praying for your dad, as I know how much my dad missed his wife of 69 years. God bless and keep you close to His heart.

Val, I was just looking back through your blog and came upon this post. My sincere and heartfelt empathy for you as you go on from here. No, things will never be the same, as I know from experience. God will sustain you and bring you into a place of joy.
