I feel the need to do a new post today, but I have no new art to post. Well, that's not exactly true, I do have a new art piece, but the photos I took of it didn't come out well at all, mainly due to using the flash which created a lot of glare. They just don't do the piece justice. I hate it when that happens, and haven't figured out how to turn off the flash on my camera. So until I can figure that out, and take another photo that ends up decent, I doubt I'll post it on my blog.
So here I am, posting, with no art to post. So I thought I'd post a great link here, to a video featuring a new art product. http://www.panpastel.com/ It's called PanPastel Artists' Pastels, and they are very impressive to me, in the video. And a fair warning here, are not inexpensive. And also, when it comes to these kind of art supplies, I have no, or very little experience or knowledge in using them, because I basically don't own these kind of art supplies.
But I thought I'd post this link, so you can actually see how these work in the video, as I did. And perhaps be as impressed as I was, with how well they seem to work and blend. It seems to me they would work incredibly well for altered art, in many ways.
Would I like to own some and use them in my art? Absolutely! Would I like to pay that much for them? No, not exactly. I'm sure they're worth the price, I'm just not accustomed to paying that much for art supplies. However, I'm so impressed with these, I might just persuade myself to buy some, and consider it a gift to myself. Gee, I have a birthday coming up in August, maybe I could justify buying some as a birthday gift to myself! That's an idea.
So anyway, please view the video, and leave comments on what you think of this new product. Would you purchase it yourself? And if so, how would you use it in your art?
I would love to try some of those. I agree they are a little pricey. But I have found when it comes to art supplies (water color pencils and brushes) sometimes paying a little more can make a huge difference in quality.
ReplyDeleteHey Val I have a set of these, about a month or more ago on the yahoo groups, they were the hot new product. After a few people got and tried them and gave their testimonies I decided to get some.
ReplyDeleteI love them I use them off an on all the time. I used them for a swap I did where we had to make a piece of art then make color copies, then art up the copies. I had done the background and some other parts with the pan Pastels. The copies looked as though I had used colored paper, really wild stuff.
Thanks for putting up the video so more people can be exposed to them. BTW I bought mine on Amazon and Cheep Joes.
those are so cool. thanks for video also. I never heard of these at all. but the video showed howed easy these was to use.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm, I think I might have to put them on my shopping list, too!

i can't figure out how to turn the flass off on my camera either...and i have had it 3 years..
ReplyDeletei did it once by accident i suppose
because i haven't been able to achieve it since
it would be nice that i could...
taking pictures of glass is better without the flash..
but
i know what you mean
:-)
Lovely saturated color , if you're really interested you might question Darlene more about them - and don't drop one!
ReplyDeletePan Pastels are wonderful! I heard about them a couple of months ago from Jessica Wesolek (www.cre8it.com) of Sheer Heaven. I love these! But, I'm warning you, you might as well save up and get the whole set-LOL! I started with a couple of the sets and several shades in colors I thought would be difficult to duplicate and a few tints as well though not as many. Now I just have to get the rest! They are TRULY innovative, which is rarely true with art products even when companies swear they are! Jessica is either going to have a CD about them or a workshop-she hasn't decided which but I'm sure it will be great! I'm sure lots of artists will be grateful to you for spreading the word about PP's!
